Unique and exceptional disc. Live recorded at the Philharmonie of Paris in September 2016 during the debut concert of Varvara in this important hall of the French capital. This was a recording intended for the historical archive of the room, but thanks to its artistic value, it has been possible to publicize the audience. Varvara plays the Sonata in B minor of Liszt, a masterpiece of the pianistic repertoire - and also one of the most difficult ones - along with the "Für Alina" by Arvo Pärt. Varvara offers us again an interpretation full of light and musicality.* Sending the CD by postal mail imposes an extra cost.
Varvara proposes here a set of pieces which highlight this broad range of music. The “Sonata in C minor KV 457” (preceded by the “Fantasy KV 475”, composed seven months later) was published in Vienna in 1785 and it is dedicated to his pupil Thérèse von Trattner; the “Variations KV 300” on a French folk song were also published that year in Vienna and they have become one of the composer’s most popular works; the “Rondo KV 511” is from 1787, taking surprising advantage of a very simple theme inspired by the death of a friend; the “Sonata KV 310”, composed during his stay in Paris (1778), is one of the young Mozart’s greatest pieces.* Sending the CD by postal mail imposes an extra cost.
